Barbara Armitage - Annual Conference Chairman - 2010

Barbara Armitage was appointed Development Director at Wycombe Abbey School in September 2006, after five and a half years at Manchester High School for Girls where she was responsible for establishing the first Development Office, overseeing fundraising alumni relations, and marketing.

Barbara worked in television, advertising ,in direct marketing at the Reader's Digest and journalism before moving into development.  In a voluntary capacity she spent several years successfully chairing and fundraising for an arts festival and was involved in local politics.  She currently advises on strategic fundraising and membership for the Wycombe Constituency Conservatives and the area’s new MP.  She has served as a governor at two community primary schools and a college of further education.

Having spent nearly ten years working in girls’ schools, Barbara has become somewhat of a specialist in this aspect of development and is often asked to speak and give advice on the subject.

She has been an IDPE Trustee for three years.
